A Study on Consciousness, Death, and What Lies Between
IRB Protocol 2024-RB-0091 — Approved for Civilian RecruitmentProject Rebirth is a multi-phase research initiative investigating the persistence of consciousness during and immediately following clinical cessation of biological function. Our interdisciplinary team at REDACTED Laboratories has developed proprietary methodologies for observing neural activity in states previously considered irreversible.
We are now entering Phase III of the study, which requires voluntary participants willing to undergo controlled observation protocols. All procedures have been reviewed and approved by an independent ethics board. Previous participants have described the experience as "unlike anything else." Most have chosen not to elaborate further.
If you have ever wondered what happens at the threshold — the precise moment between life and what follows — we are offering you the opportunity to find out.
All participants will be assigned to Facility E for the duration of observation. The following procedures are standard across all subjects.
Non-invasive cranial monitoring via our proprietary electrode array. Brain activity is recorded continuously across all sleep and wake states. You may occasionally perceive a faint hum. This is expected.
Participants will experience carefully calibrated environmental conditions designed to bring consciousness to its threshold state. All scenarios are supervised by licensed medical personnel. Discomfort is temporary.
Following each session, participants are asked to describe their experience in detail. These accounts are recorded, catalogued, and cross-referenced with neural data. Some subjects report difficulty distinguishing sessions from one another. This is normal.
After the observation phase, participants undergo a structured reintegration period before release. The duration of this period varies by individual. In rare cases, additional sessions may be recommended.
We accept a limited number of volunteers per recruitment cycle. Applicants must meet the following criteria.
Compensation: All participants will receive a stipend upon completion of the reintegration phase. The amount is determined by the number of completed observation sessions. Participants who withdraw early will be compensated at a reduced rate, subject to the terms outlined in the consent agreement.
